Talking Epson Stylus 1520

We are having tons of problems with our printer, an Epson Stylus 1520. It is an inkjet printer that has a tractor feed. We like one-up continuous-feed labels so it works great for us AND we don't have to listen to the pounding of a dot matrix since it is located in the front office.

My concern is that the ink seems to gel or mix in with dust in the cartridge carrier and subsequently the carrier sticks and drags ink across the labels. I have cleaned it several times but my main problem seems to be located UNDER the carrier where I can't reach. We can't find anyone in the Topeka, KS, area that services Epson printers. Also, we print labels once a week and would need it back in that length of time. (We could use our laser printer and a box of sheet labels but that would definitely confuse the mail room. )

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to clean this?
OR
Does anyone have a good suggestion for a replacement printer?

Thanks for any advice you all can give me!

Our boss actually found a place that services those printers and NOW it is like new!

I had found some instructions online as to how to clean it yourself but now I can't find it. I'll try to find it and post it here!
